Privacy
Your data stays on your watch.
Last updated 31 October 2026.
What the app stores
Your stages (names, durations and alerts) and your settings, kept on your watch in the app's own storage. It also notes whether your watch has a gyroscope and whether you've seen the first-run tip. Nothing is sent to me or to any server. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.
Team sync
When Team sync is on, your watch exchanges short radio messages with nearby watches running Match Stage Timer over a private ANT channel. The messages contain only random numbers that identify the watch and the stage start for that session, and stage timing. They contain no names, stage names, location or personal information, and they aren't stored or sent anywhere else.
What the app doesn't do
No account, no internet access, no location, no health or activity data, no analytics and no advertising. The motion sensors are read only to detect the start twist, and those readings aren't stored.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, Garmin may provide me with a crash report through its developer tools (for example the watch model, software version and where in the app the error happened). I use these only to fix bugs.
Purchases
Payment is handled by Garmin. I don't receive your payment details. Garmin's own privacy policy covers the store and your Garmin account.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
